Six large and bright lecture halls, seminar rooms and plenty of space for advisory services: the Lecture Hall Campus Center takes centre stage on the university grounds in Kassel. Providing roughly 5700 square metres of useful floor space, the facility creates a venue for roughly 2650 students to attend lectures.
Shaped like a pentagon, the aluminium facade of the Lecture Hall Campus Center shimmers in silver. The ascending lines of the individual lecture halls are clearly visible along the building’s longer sides. Slanted window facades provide clear views of the auditoria laid out inside. Interior shading and antiglare protection is provided by electric curtain track Systems SG 5600, extending up to 16 metres, designed to further underscore the sculptural, raised of look the outer facade. Slanted at a gradient of 19 degrees, the ceiling above the lecture halls is a particular architectural feature but means that the electric curtain track always carries the tensile load exerted by the curtains’ weight.
Designed by raumzeit Architekten BDA, Berlin, the Lecture Hall Campus Center at the University of Kassel is winner of the German VCF Facade Award.
